Dining Room: Before and After Part 1

As a little girl I’d dreamed of living on a farm, “taking care” of animals, collecting eggs… you know.  The “fun” stuff.  Perhaps that’s why I’ve such a love for Farmhouse style.  I love the rustic, warm feeling of it.  So, when it came to updating the dining room, a farmhouse table was a must.  If you’ve gotten to know us, we’re all about DIY.  It’s cost effective and we get to put our hearts and soles into our home, making it a true reflection of us.

Here’s a pic of the dining room as I remember it growing up (minus the mess, and Minnie crashing the photo).  So many special meals took place here surrounded by family and friends.  Cozy, warm, and inviting:

But, I was ready for a change.  So, let the updating begin!  I’ve mentioned before that most of our home renovations are done in stages, and this one is no different.  We took the wallpaper down and painted the walls first. (The day before baby number 3 was born; we work well under pressure 🙂 ).  The room was left empty for a bit while in our newborn baby haze. When she started sleeping a bit more I got the energy to paint the trim and baseboards white.  Sleeping through the night now… and I finally could form a sentence, “Wow, this room is shaped perfectly for one of those long farmhouse tables, isn’t it?” Before I knew it, this beauty was sitting in our porch:

Cheers.  Farmhouse table? Check.  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s full dining room reveal.  Thanks for stopping in!
