Outdoor Living Space: Before and After

Oh my goodness… this post.  This POST! Believe it or not I’ve been trying to get it out for a month now and am just  getting around to finishing it up and hitting the publish button.  The end of the year is a whirlwind of graduation parties, first communion, birthdays, recitals, and the like, am I right?

Anyhow now that we are winding down on the school year and outdoor living is becoming our way of life… why not make it as cozy and inviting as possible?  Here’s our pergola and porch before:

I’m a big proponent of makeovers that don’t break the bank so DIYs, and bargain hunting and thrifty finds are the name of the game when it comes to putting a space together. Just a few key ingredients were on my list this year including seating, lighting, an outdoor rug and some greenery.

The first place I wanted to check out was Target and it didn’t disappoint. These chairs had me at hello, and scored them at  a flash clearance price tag of $25!   (note: all photos below are linked back to their source, just click to shop.)

I  also snagged a few of these black and white striped outdoor rugs:

Then I headed to home depot and found some pretty trees to give the space a little life.

And found these cute baskets to plunk them into to beef ’em up a bit:

I found these industrial string lights at Walmart and love how they add a pretty evening glow…

Then found this old coffee table by the side of the road and gave it a little makeover (here’s the before):

And decided to give a few hand-me-down tables an update with a gold/white combo (another before shot):

Last, I shopped the house for a few accessories including a few buffalo check pillows, curtains, a few lanterns and a hydrangea I got from my littles for Mother’s day.  Ready for the reveal?  Here’s how it looks today:

Thank you for stopping in today, and for your patience as I put this all together…Anyone else counting down the days to summer vacation?
