White Cabinets in the Kitchen

Hellllllloooooo!  Yes it’s been a wee bit too long since I’ve checked in with you – and things have been happening around here: furniture updating, rearranging, cabinetry painting… Thanksgiving planning…. so lets get caught up, shall we?  First off – thanks for hanging in there while I finally got my act together to clean up and do a photo shoot of the kitchen area.  And, since it’s all open concept, I took a few more pics because hey, when you have a clean house, (which is for like 10 seconds around here) you take full advantage of the opportunity!  (are you seeing why this took me so long to do?!) Yes, we live a normal life over here and I oftentimes will go to the blog just to give me a boost to make things look nice again.  😉 whatever it takes, right?   Anywhoo–prepare yourself for a whole bunch of random pics on top of the updated white kitchen cabinets:

A subtle change but one that I’m already liking quite a bit.  Especially at night.  The color on the lowers that I had before looked too green in the artificial light.  Now, it’s light and bright, even in the after hours.  And for me, that makes all the difference in the world.

I also want to point out the cute soap and hand cream duo here:

They’re by Murchison-Hume and not only smell really great, but are made of natural, safe ingredients that leave your hands feeling silky soft.  For a mom that washes her hands a gazillion times a day, this is big.  Really big.  I’m also a huge fan of their bottle.  Fashionable and perfect for the farmhouse style that I just love.  If you’re a soap fanatic like me and would like to give them a try – click here .  I’m thinking these will make a really great gift idea for the holidays…. ok back to the tour:

I included this photo because I’m thinking of painting the island a color… and am bouncing from a deep color like the one I’d painted the front door with, or something on the much lighter side. I’ll probably give something a try just to see.  Heck, I can always paint it back if I don’t like it right?  🙂

Funny (to me) story about this window…

When we were moving the chicken coop to its “final resting place for the winter” the Mr. parked it right in front of the picture window in the dining room.  Sigh… poor man…. he forgot for one second that he’s married to an obsessive blogger who can’t be photo bombed by a big bright white chicken coop… so – we spent wayyy too much time pivoting it out of the way this past weekend… and I’m happy to report that I can now watch them out of the kitchen sink window instead. ;-).  If you squint your eyes, you might be able to catch it in the photo below (squint being the operative word here):

Okay, now for a few random ones.  I made this little centerpiece the other day… and its vibrant orange is really Popping against my neutral walls:

Here’s one from my favorite view in the living room:

And one that you don’t see very often… showing how we’re all open over here:

And right on the other side of that wall is this:

If by chance you’re new around here… this is the barn door that we brought home when my gram passed away and had to sell her house.  My grandfather had built it and it used to live in their basement.  We enjoy it and remember them every day as it stands proudly in our kitchen.

Now as we walk through this way, you’ll see the updated entry way that’s worn a few different hats since I last checked in:

Okay if you’re still with me, thank you… I have to put this next photo in because I get all sorts of heck for not posting more of this pallet flag the mr.  made a few years back.  Yes babe, if you’re reading this, it’s still pretty awesome:

And now, I’m putting my camera down… a HUGE thank you if you’ve made it this far in the post. I truly appreciate all of your support on this little blog adventure.  Stay tuned for some fun holiday things coming very soon!
