A few furniture makeovers

Roadside rescues…my favorite kind to makeover.  First because I start at $0 cost and second… they always seem to be just a bit sweeter when things turn out. This bookcase?  No different.  Here is a pic of it when I brought it home…

After looking it over I realized that the top had an interesting wood pattern so I chose to just sand it down and reveal the wood (veneer), then I painted the body a crisp white.  Not a lot of effort, but a big change nonetheless:

I can see this here, or as a towel holder in the kids’ bathroom… or at the tiny house in the entryway for storage… or in the girls bedroom…ohh yes, anytime you can imagine a piece in a few different places – it’s a good find!

I also recently picked up this bar cart from a nearby consignment shop.

I liked that it was small in size and on wheels… anything on wheels is useful isn’t it?  Anyhow I was drawn to its butcher block top and wanted to up the cuteness factor by painting the base white…

I originally thought I’d use it in the laundry room as extra space for folding… but it hasn’t left the kitchen.  I suppose I just like seeing it throughout the day (yes, I do spend most of my day in the kitchen, prepping meals, having meals, cleaning meals… lucky for me it’s my favorite place in our home).  I’ve been working on a few other projects as well (including a buffet that was gifted to me and a few armoires that I scored for free on Craigslist) so I’ll be photographing them and sharing them here soon!  As for now… I’m daydreaming of spring time.  Even if the snow is falling at record speed outside.  🙂
