A Little Frame Art

I inherited this fabulous wood frame:

Not much to look at, empty and dated. But I knew I could bring it back to life…so I decided to sand it:

Then re-stain it:

Then, once the stain was dry I added a thick coat of white paint, let it dry, and took the hand sander to it give it a distressed look.  Next, I found an old piece of chicken wire in the garage.

Added some character to it first with black spray paint, then with a light cover of copper spray paint on top.  This gave it a rusty, aged look.  I nailed the wire to the back of the frame, and hung it on our front door to add some dimension behind our wreath:
