Kitchen update: A twist on a couple of Homegoods Crates

I love an eclectic look when decorating, and luckily, since most of my decorating takes place in pieces it works out well.   Once the open shelving in our kitchen was done, I knew I wanted to change things up a little bit and avoid things looking too matchy match around the stove.

Then, on one of my many (yes many) trips over to Homegoods, I found two adorable wood crates in the clearance section.  The wheels started turning… these looked the exact size to fit the small space to the left of said stove.  My heart started pounding and now I’m getting excited.  Next up, the kitchen aisle… glass jars with mini chalkboards had me at hello.  Perfect.  Checking out please!

As soon as I got home I showed the Mr. my idea and of course, he had an even better one.  Altering the crates just a bit by taking off the first rung on each crate for easier access to the goodies they now hold….

Another spin on open shelving and better yet, this little addition was less than $20.  :-).
