DIY Numbered Stairs

One of my favorite projects that I’ve done thus far is numbering our staircase.  I’ve mentioned before that I love educational décor.  Anything to get the kids to read or count… and pretty too? Consider it done. What’s more, this project was done in under an hour (yes, at nap time) and cost me $0.  You in?

First you head on over to one of my favorite blogs, www.jonesdesigncompany.com.  From there you’re going to click on her “freebies” link and download her house numbers.  Or to make it easy, you can just click here.  Print those little babies out, then cut out the inside of the numbers.  Next, measure each stair and tape the paper to the middle. Truth be told I was in a bit of a hurry so I just eyeballed it.  I’m ok with imperfect so if that’s not you, I suggest getting out that measuring tape :-).  Lastly, use a stencil brush and a bit of black craft paint to stencil the numbers.  Quickly take off the paper to avoid smudging.  Repeat. Step back and take it in –  you’ve completed one of the most easy projects that adds loads of farmhouse charm to your home. Enjoy!
