Checking in & a few tiny house updates

Hi Friends!

So, as I was laying awake in bed during the wee hours of the morning…I was thinking about you!  I’ve been hesitant to post much here because well, life has been a little crazy (what’s a mom to expect I suppose with school back in session?) but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still be friends!  Here’s what I propose… how about I check in here more often… even if I don’t have a plethora of photos or DIY projects to share?  How would you feel about that?  I’m thinking it will be good for me to share more thoughts… plans… you know… just chat?   Heck, treat this more like what it is…a blog.  :-). I promise I still live, sleep, breathe DIY and home décor so I’ll keep these posts about all of those things (Don’t worry I’m not going to start blogging about hair and makeup and fashion – unless of course you’re wanting to hear about that too wink wink… nothing has to be off limits in blogger world).  But for all intents and purposes… let’s stick to what I know and see how that goes?  Sound good?  Fabulous.

Shifting gears now to the tiny house…we added a 4 season room and used some gorgeous laminate flooring from lowes (inspired by the sweet and talented @prvbsthirtyonegirl on Instagram) to give it a warm, farmhouse feel. (I’ll link up to all my sources at the end of this post if you’re interested.)  Then, it was ready for the fun part… decorating.  Since I’m on a budget, I shopped the house for some furniture and brought in some pieces that we’ve inherited from loved ones, a few pieces I’d found at antique stores, and a couple of chairs we’d picked up from Ikea a few summers back. I did shop a bit online for a few rugs to layer, and a couple of inexpensive poufs.  I also decided to use some mirrors I’d ordered awhile ago and never used (were incorrectly sized on the website) to give us some more light and reflect the lake on the other side of the room.  Ready to see where we left off?

Next time I go, I’ll be painting the right side of the room the same color I used inside the house, Valspar’s Bistro white and trying my hand at some peel and stick wallpaper for the shiny white wall you see by the door.  Fingers crossed all comes out the way I’ve imagined in my head.  OH – and before I go… If you have any brilliant ideas as far as what to do with that small door to the left of the sofa, I’m all ears.  Do keep in mind we need to keep it as a safety escape route should we ever need it.

As promised, here are some of the items you see in the photos and links to their sources if you’re in the shopping mood! (please note, this is not a sponsored post.  Just a roundup of products I love!) Double click or tap to go to source.

As always, thank you for stopping in!  I hope I’ve inspired you in some way to bring some coziness to your own home!

  1. Do you ever plan on using the door, outside of an emergency? I’d take the handle off if possible….

Or (better yet) turn it into shelving! Like this: https://www.ebay.com/i/142448735071?chn=ps&dispItem=1 It would cut into a room
(either the all season porch or whatever is on the other side) but who couldn’t use more shelving?

    1. Jade… YOU’ re a genius! I love both of these ideas!!! I can’t wait to show Adam. I’m especially liking the shelving/door option! That is fantastic. Thank you so much… I’m so inspired over here.
