A kitchen island/bar for the family function room

The Mr. had a vision for our seating area in the new family room.  A truck full of 2x4s, some MDF, a few sheets of pre-primed bead board and I let him to his work:

…for awhile I couldn’t piece together how it was going to look….

…but that frame, somehow turned into this:

…then he added the top of the farmhouse table we found in my Grammy’s basement (remember this?)

Farmhouse Table Before

We’d sanded it down, wiped on Watco teak oil, and enjoyed it outdoors all last summer.

Farmhouse Table After

But, since it was getting a beating outdoors, we decided to give it a new home…And we’re really excited about it as a 10 foot kitchen island, er…bar table…. seating area:

I found the metal bar stools on Amazon for an amazing deal and the swivel wood stools were a find by the side of the road:

The white piece of furniture in the back right corner is a Murphy bed – also found on Amazon.

I inherited the large barn wood mirror, also made by my Grandfather.  I love it’s aged patina and how it brings light into this side of the room:

My Best friend Abbey gifted us these adorable antler coasters, and they sit on a trunk I found years ago at an antique shop in Kingston, NH.

The large blue Demijohn bottle was a find at Homegoods, and the stems inside are from Joann Fabrics.

I found the rug at Lowe’s (on sale now too!) and the couch is from Ashbrook Furniture (in Nashua, NH if you’re local).  Yes, it came with all of those throw pillows….the covers are all from H&M.

The color on the walls is called Ozark Shadows by Benjamin Moore.  I had it color matched at Home Depot.  The sheer curtains are from H&M.  I made the rods they hang on out of closet polls… simply stained them and used hooks by Martha Stewart to secure from the wall.  (also found at Home Depot).  I think that’s a wrap in here!  Thanks so much for sticking around for this makeover!  What’s up next you ask?  A new pantry!  Happy Easter!
