Guest Bedroom/Family Function Room update

All of this warm weather has the DIYing in full bloom over on Blueberry Hill.  As a germophobic mom of three, carpet is my worst enemy.  So, when planning out the guest bedroom-turning-family-function-room, we decided it was worth our while to tear out the carpet, and replace it with some faux wood laminate.  A big undertaking to say the least, but one worth doing to save a little bit of my sanity now, and in the future.

We decided on Home Decorator’s collection Distressed Brown Hickory from Home Depot:

Some of the boxes were open so they gave us 10% off too.  (Always ask Home depot for a discount – they are willing to work with you on pricing!) I was a big help watching the Mr. snap the pieces together, saw… snap… it looked exhausting.  Good thing I was there ready with ham sandwiches and refreshments or I couldn’t say I pulled my weight on this one.  Once the flooring was in, we assembled the Murphy bed we got for Christmas.  And we, meaning the Mr.  Did it all. Again. (somebody please pinch me – how did I get so lucky?) Just looking at the gazillion pieces this thing came in had me heading for the door.

I was so impressed that he got it all assembled, level and ready to go for our company the next day.

And now for the not-so-pretty-progress shot:

Getting there right?  It feels 10x bigger in here.  Now to put it all back together… stay tuned!
