Girls Bedroom

What’s fun about this room is, it used to be mine.  34 Years ago it donned yellow and pink wallpaper, ceiling to floor.  Then, it was changed to pastel hearts, this time only halfway up the wall… and again as I grew older to a flowered trellis paper.  Now all these years later… here I am, doing the makeover myself, for my own girls.  Funny how life has unfolded and brought me right back to where I started.

So, Let’s take a peek, shall we?  Here’s the view walking down the hallway towards their room, and that handsome barn door the Mr. made just recently for our little guy.  (See previous post for more photos of that ;-)).

Since my oldest daughter’s favorite color is pink, and the baby’s is purple, I decided to raise the chair rail and paint the top portion pink, and the bottom purple.

I tried to keep things simple and instead of running off to the store to buy all new things, I repurposed furniture, blankets and décor that we already owned wherever I could.  The beds were generously handed down to our girls by their grandparents,  the vanity used to be my own growing up,  the Mirror was a gift from my best friend when I had my first daughter, the teacups were hand-selected by the girls from my Grammie’s treasured collection.  The tray they sit in is vintage and I found it years ago at a thrift store.  The rug is actually a handmade quilt by my sweet Aunt Julie.   She also made the dress quilt on my youngest daughter’s bed. The overstuffed chair was a gift from my parents when I was pregnant with my first.  The clock, orchid, pinstripe sheers and lamp are from Homegoods and the chandelier is from Pottery Barn (spray painted from black to ballet slipper Pink).  I found the duvet covers HM.com (on clearance now for $15 each. Side note, HM.com is one of my favorite places to find really inexpensive but good quality décor… check them out next time you’re looking :-)) The paint colors are by Benjamin Moore: Pink Peony for the top and white heaven for the bottom.

I think that’s a wrap in here!  Thanks for stopping in and stay tuned for some exciting things happening in the guest room! 🙂
